The wonderful wizard of oz

In the previous post I mentioned knocking up some kind of wizard to do ad-hoc charts.  The first iteration of that is complete and provides support for arbitrary scatter charts.

There is only one chart type currently

Now choose the X and Y fields for the scatter plot

Save it for re-use (doesn't actually save yet)

Thank you, come again!

Looking good!

A few development questions for you:
What language and framework is this written in?
Are you using a chart/graph library? If so, which one?
Is this designed to be open or closed source?

I ask as both a fellow T6 user/owner and as a man writing a similar but different tool for freediving analysis using a Cressi Edy dive watch.

Hi, I´m wondering if i can download your software from somewhere?

I bought a suunto t6c (i've using polar from 10 years ago) and i find the software very incomplete :/, that's why I was searching into google some alternatives and I found your webpage and your project looks pretty cool :)

like fibercool, I have had a polar since 1989 and have HR files since then too!

I am curious about two things...

will there be an import/export tool? one where you can import polar HRM (I have the documentation for those if you need) and then export those as suunto dat files?

one of the features I DO like about the suunto software is the calculation of EPOC. I cannot do that in any other software and would like to be able to import my old data into the EPOC model.

THANKS tons in advance and look forward to the software.

Will it be open source? Can we contribute?

Thanks again,

g

Thanks all. I just moved countries this week so am a little distracted but I'll try and sort out an install package over the next week or so.

To answer a couple of questions;

Freediver/GregClimbs - I've got no issue with open sourcing the application but it does use commercial controls (devexpress.com) for the user interface. The part that decodes the raw training data is 100% mine and I may opt to open source that - not sure yet.

Gregclimbs - I've no experience with Polar files and to be perfectly honest, as this was/is a personal project, I've no real incentive to support them. IF, there's easily re-usable code, or public specs for them them I can look at it, but it's a low priority. I am planning on both a session export function (full samples from 1..n sessions in a Excel or Csv for example) or Summary and Summary crosstab exports.

EPOC is a Suunto thing (licensed from Firstbeat Technologies). In theory the technology is licensable. In practice Suunto have not responded to the several emails I've sent on the subject.

In practice this means that I re-use the EPOC data that STraM calculates but it rules out re-working external data, unforunately.

Magnifico Simón!!. Mi pregunta es ...el entorno de esta aplicación podrá verse en español?. Podríamos colaborar y ayudarte a traducirlo al español?. Un fuerte abrazo.

The program looks great Simon. I am a T6-owner/user and disappointed in the software of Suunto.
Looking forward to a downloadable version of your program. I'll follow te updates of your blog.
